On Sunday, 14 June 2026, the African community and distinguished guests gathered at Ajou University for the second edition of the KAFXA Awards — an event dedicated to recognising and celebrating exceptional Africans living in South Korea whose achievements, contributions and impact continue to inspire and uplift African communities in Korea, across Africa and beyond.
Held from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, the ceremony brought together leaders, professionals, entrepreneurs, creatives, students and community advocates in an atmosphere filled with pride, unity and appreciation for African excellence.
A warm welcome
The event commenced with the arrival and registration of guests, followed by welcoming remarks from the Master of Ceremony and KAFXA Executive member Mr. Sam Okyere, who welcomed everyone, introduced distinguished attendees and set the tone for an afternoon of celebration and recognition.
The representative of the KAFXA Organizing Committee, Mr. Edmond Atemnkeng, delivered opening remarks highlighting the vision behind the awards and reaffirming the organisation's commitment to promoting excellence, leadership, innovation and positive impact within African communities.
“Live with integrity and never give up”
One of the highlights of the afternoon was an inspiring address delivered by KAFXA Executive member Mr. Achu Muamaah, who encouraged attendees to continue pursuing excellence and creating meaningful change within their respective fields. He shared his own story and journey in Korea — from a student working many part-time jobs to a successful entrepreneur — and urged attendees to live with integrity and never give up.
Honouring 20 finalists from 16 countries
The centrepiece of the event was the awards presentation ceremony, which recognised 20 finalists from 16 different countries for their outstanding achievements.
Each nominee was celebrated for their dedication, leadership and impact, with several winners expressing gratitude and emphasising the importance of empowering others and fostering unity within the African community.
African Icon of the Month: Jafter Orein Francis
The special award for the African Icon of the Month was presented to Jafter Orein Francis from Zimbabwe, in recognition of his invaluable support and commitment to fostering the spirit of African excellence in South Korea.
A community strengthened
The ceremony concluded with closing remarks and a vote of thanks, followed by an official group photograph featuring all the nominees, dignitaries, organisers and guests. Attendees then enjoyed an opportunity to network and share experiences, further strengthening the bonds that unite the community.
The 2026 KAFXA Awards once again demonstrated the power of recognition in inspiring individuals and organisations to continue striving for excellence. As the platform continues to grow, KAFXA remains committed to honouring achievements, fostering collaboration and promoting a positive narrative that showcases the immense talent and contributions of Africans around the world.
With another successful edition concluded, anticipation is already building for future KAFXA initiatives and the continued celebration of African excellence.
